Transforming Miller Brothers Construction ECAC Process

Client Overview

Miller Brothers Construction, Inc. (MBC) is a family-owned business founded in 1945 in Northwest Ohio. Now operating in 12 states, MBC is known for integrity, safety, and innovation. With a skilled team, extensive resources, and a nationally recognized safety program, MBC delivers efficient, high-quality project results.

The Challenge

Miller Brothers sought to enhance their Estimated Cost at Completion (ECAC) process by introducing new capabilities and improving efficiency. They needed a system that allowed multiple users to collaborate simultaneously, accelerating project estimate delivery and enabling robust search features to quickly identify necessary adjustments.

Their key priorities included automating data updates on a weekly and monthly basis, integrating scheduled data retrieval for company and job information, and ensuring timely project forecast publication to JCTDYD in ECMS – keeping the system of record continuously up to date.

The Solution

The outdated Access solution posed several challenges. However, essential features – such as the Excel export for ECAC period data and the dedicated summary tab – remain in the new system, ensuring seamless data entry. Additionally, new enhancements like a shared notes slide-out improve collaboration and workflow efficiency.

The project introduces an internal API for ECMS, reducing the effort for future innovative projects. These enhancements provide stakeholders with efficient tools for data retrieval, management, and analysis within the ECMS ecosystem to improve construction cost forecasting.
